Liverpool Empire 100th Gala Event

Celebrating 100 Years of The Empire Theatre Liverpool. On the 11th of March, the iconic Empire Theatre in Liverpool celebrated an incredible milestone — 100 years of entertaining the city with unforgettable performances, dazzling productions, and captivating stories brought to life on stage.

We were truly honoured to be invited to play a part in this historic celebration by designing and styling the decorations for their centenary Gala Evening. Following an inspiring on-site meeting with the theatre manager, we explored a range of creative ideas to add theatrical flair and a sense of grandeur to the occasion. From there, I developed a series of mood boards and visual concepts to bring our shared vision to life.

To complement the theatre’s newly rebranded logo colours — a rich and timeless palette of red, navy, and gold — we designed a cohesive look that flowed seamlessly throughout the space.

Guests were welcomed by two dramatic balloon garlands framing the entrance doors, setting the tone for a glamorous and memorable evening. Inside, a striking balloon installation was suspended above the theatre bar, drawing the eye and adding a celebratory burst of colour.

One of the standout features of the evening was the dedicated selfie backdrop area, designed to reflect the elegance and history of the Empire. This included opulent red drapery, warm festoon lighting, cascading balloon garlands, and an illuminated ‘100’ in glowing numbers — creating the perfect spot for guests to capture their memories of the night.

The gala itself was a spectacular, star-studded affair, brimming with music, performances, and heartfelt tributes. We were absolutely thrilled to have contributed to such a meaningful moment in the theatre’s history.
