Designing a Christmas Private Dining Event Experience
When our clients requested a full Christmas private dining event, we knew it had to be something truly special. After a challenging year and with loved ones finally on the road to recovery, this celebration became the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together.
With over 20 guests on the list, the solution was to transform one of the guest’s workspaces into a festive setting large enough to host everyone under one roof.
Creating a Christmas Private Dining Event Setting
This Christmas private dining event highlighted the room’s Victorian features while introducing a luxurious festive colour palette. visiting the space, we knew we needed to embrace its character. As a result, we chose a timeless colour palette of deep greens, rich golds, and elegant burgundy tones.
This created a look that felt both traditional and luxurious, while still warm and inviting.
Creating a Christmas Focal Point
The skylight immediately stood out as a key feature. We decided to highlight it rather than hide it.
To achieve this, we suspended lush garlands, decorated with baubles, oversized red and gold ornaments, and twinkling fairy lights. This created a stunning focal point and drew the eye upward, adding height and drama to the room.
Styling Details for a Christmas Private Dining Event
Next, we turned our attention to the surrounding features.
The picture rail was dressed with pine garlands and soft fairy lights. This added depth and a subtle festive glow throughout the space.
However, the fireplace became the true focal point of the room.
We styled the mantel with a full, abundant garland. It was layered with baubles, cinnamon sticks, berries, dried orange slices, and twinkling lights. Above the mirror, we placed a statement wreath, tying the whole scheme together.
Inside the fireplace, we created a winter scene using silver birch plinths, candles, faux snow, and berries. This added texture and a touch of magic to the overall design.

The Christmas Trees
Three Christmas trees completed the transformation.
The main tree was a grand real pine, dressed with:
-
Baubles
-
Fairy lights
-
Red poinsettias
-
Velvet bows
This created a rich and luxurious centrepiece.
Two additional trees were placed either side of the fireplace. These were styled with ornaments and lights to create symmetry and enhance the overall impact of the room.
Turning Challenges into Design Features
One of the main challenges was the two large noticeboards positioned either side of the fireplace.
Rather than remove them, we transformed them. We draped them in rich burgundy velvet fabric, creating the effect of elegant curtains.
This not only concealed the boards but also added depth, texture, and a sense of grandeur to the design.
Creating a Christmas Private Dining Event Setting
The dining table was the final highlight of the space.
We designed a lush spruce garland that ran the full length of the table. It was decorated with:
-
Baubles
-
Berries
-
Fairy lights
To complete the look, we added vintage brass candlesticks and red velvet bows.
Each place setting featured gold-rimmed charger plates, matching dinner plates, and deep green napkins. Every setting was finished with a velvet bow, adding a thoughtful and personal touch.
The cut glassware elevated the table further, creating a refined and elegant finish.
The Result
The result was a stunning transformation. This Christmas private dining event created a warm, immersive setting perfect for celebrating the festive season with loved ones.
The space became a warm and magical Christmas setting, filled with light, texture, and festive detail. Most importantly, it became a space where family could gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories together.
